Regular Season Round 8: Sparta - Racing 80-69

Date: November 10, 2012
Bottom-ranked Racing (0-6) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to sixth ranked Sparta (3-4) 80-69 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 35-14 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Sparta dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Racing's 34. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Robin Murphy (185, college: S.Mississippi) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 7 rebounds and guard Carole Sitz (174-85, college: Elon) who added 21 points during the contest. Four Sparta players scored in double figures. Sparta's coach Jacques Sitz used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Celeste Stevenson (180-82, college: W.Texas A&M) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and her fellow American import swingman Kayla Tetschlag (182-89, college: Wisc.-Green Bay) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Sparta moved-up to fifth place. Racing at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Sparta will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Racing will play on the road against Basket Esch (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
