Regular Season Round 5: Shanghai - Liaoning 75-66

Round 5 in WCBA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Shanghai where host Shanghai Octopus (2-3) beat league's leader Liaoning Hengye (4-1) 75-66 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Liaoning Hengye. The best player for the winners was American swingman Camille Little (188-85, college: N.Carolina) who scored 25 points and 8 rebounds. point guard Xiufeng Shi (178-87) chipped in 25 points. The former international forward Xiaoli Chen (193-82) produced 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field) and Belarusian center Yelena Leuchanka (196-83, college: W.Virginia) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Liaoning Hengye's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shanghai Octopus moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Liaoning Hengye at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Zhejiang who have the same record. Liaoning Hengye will play next round against strong Shanxi trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Shanghai Octopus will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Shenyang Golden Lions in Dandong.
