Regular Season Round 9: Energa Torun - CCC Polkowice 73-80

The game between Top Four teams took place in Torun. 4th placed host Energa Torun (4-3) lost to leader CCC Polkowice (6-0) 80-73. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-11. But Energa Torun won second period 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when CCC Polkowice won last quarter 21-15. CCC Polkowice outrebounded Energa Torun 42-28 including 20 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Nigerian-American power forward Nnemkadi Ogwumike (189-90, college: Stanford) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and Russian guard Valeriya Musina (183-87, college: Lee) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was international center Martyna Koc (186-83, agency: Promotex) with 17 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and American guard Nicole Michael (188-87, college: Syracuse) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. CCC Polkowice have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Artego Bydg. Energa Torun at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. CCC Polkowice is looking forward to face league's leader Wisla Can-Pak in Krakow in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Energa Torun will play on the road against Lider Pruszkow and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
