Regular Season Round 5: Maccabi T-A - Galil Gilboa 94-62

Bottom-ranked Galil Gilboa is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to sixth ranked Maccabi T-A (4-1) 94-62 on Sunday evening. The game without a history. Maccabi T-A led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Galil Gilboa's 32 and made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (216-89) nailed a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and American center Malcolm Thomas (206-88, college: San Diego St.) accounted for 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo) came up with 16 points and the other American import point guard Kenny Hayes (188-87, college: Miami, OH, agency: Priority Sports) added 9 points and 5 assists respectively for Galil Gilboa in the defeat. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Hapoel Eilat. Galil Gilboa lost their fifth game in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Elizur Ashkelon. Maccabi T-A will meet league's second-placed Hapoel Eilat on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Galil Gilboa will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#7) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
