Regular Season Round 6: Toyota Alvark - Hitachi SR 76-69

Leader Toyota Alvark delivered the tenth victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (6-6) 76-69 in Fuchu. Toyota Alvark made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Toyota Alvark outrebounded Hitachi Sunrockers 44-29 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the effort and the former international forward Michael Takahashi (198-74, college: CS Northridge) supported him with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Even a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds by international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) did not help to save the game for Hitachi Sunrockers. Guard Daisuke Kobayashi (188-87) added 20 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toyota Alvark have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 10-2 record. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side keep the fifth place with six games lost. Toyota Alvark's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Hokkaido L. (#8) in Saporro and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Sunrockers will play on the road against Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
