Regular Season Round 5: Maccabi Ashdod - Elizur Ashkelon 82-68

Maccabi Ashdod's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Ironi Ashkelon (0-5) 82-68 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ashdod. Ironi Ashkelon managed to win third quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Ashdod made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Ironi Ashkelon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. Guard Chris Allen (190-88, college: Iowa St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points. Forward Diamon Simpson (201-87, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Swingman Julien Mills (193-85, college: Ball St.) answered with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Marcus Moore (198-80, college: Washington St., agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Ironi Ashkelon. Maccabi Ashdod (1-4) left bottom position moving up to tenth place. It was Ironi Ashkelon's fifth loss in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Galil Gilboa. Maccabi Ashdod are looking forward to face higher ranked Maccabi Rishon (#6) in Rishon Le-Zion in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ironi Ashkelon will play at home against Bnei Hasharon (#9) in Hod Hasharon and hopes to get finally their first victory.
