Regular Season Round 6: Lobe Huesca - Melilla 98-88

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Melilla Baloncesto (1-5) was defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked Lobe Huesca (1-5) 98-88 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Lobe Huesca. Melilla Baloncesto was better in third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Lobe Huesca especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lobe Huesca made 7 blocks. Melilla Baloncesto was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Slovenian guard Sandi Cebular (196-86) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 assists. American forward Jamar Samuels (200-89, college: Kansas St.) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Five Lobe Huesca players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jesus Castro (191-83) who recorded 20 points and the former international forward Francisco Sanchez (201-79) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lobe Huesca left bottom position moving up to twelfth place, which they share with Melilla. It was Melilla Baloncesto's fifth loss in a row. Lobe Huesca will face bottom-ranked Ourense (#14) on the road in the next round.
