There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Umana Venezia (3-4) won against on the road higher ranked Armani Milano (3-4) 105-100 on Sunday. Armani Milano was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Umana Venezia made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Umana Venezia especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Armani Milano was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American-Bulgarian point guard Kee Kee Clark (180-84, college: St.Peter's) who helped to win the game recording 26 points. French forward Yakhouba Diawara (201-82, college: Pepperdine) contributed with 17 points for the winners. American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) answered with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and center Ioannis Bourousis (213-83, agency: FCM) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Armani Milano. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Umana Venezia moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Armani Milano. Umana Venezia will face higher ranked Lottomatica Roma (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
