Regular Season Round 11: BC Nokia - HyPo 78-55

BC Nokia can celebrate finally their first win this season after nine consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat HyPo (1-8) 78-55. They outrebounded HyPo 46-28 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Katri Menna (170-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Amani Franklin (180-88, college: Kentucky) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four BC Nokia players scored in double figures. American forward Kathlyn Varno (185-88, college: Wofford) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import power forward Amber Land (188-85, college: E.Michigan) added 3 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for HyPo. HyPo's coach Besim Maxhuni gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted BC Nokia maintains eleventh place with 1-9 record. It was HyPo's seventh loss in a row. HyPo at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with TuRi. BC Nokia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. HyPo will play at home against Aanekosken (#6) in Aanekoski to get more than just one victory in their record.
