Regular Season Round 16: Chanson V-M - Toyota A. 65-66

The most exciting game of round 16 in the WJBL took place in Shizuoka. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Chanson V-M (10-4) to fifth ranked Toyota A. (9-5) 66-65 on Sunday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Chanson V-M won third quarter 23-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Chanson V-M 35-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Ryoko Yano (178-78) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Mami Ikeda (178-81) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Toyota A. players scored in double figures. Guard Minaho Miyoshi (167-93) replied with 17 points and 4 steals and international swingman Saori Fujiyoshi (178-87) added 14 points and 4 steals in the effort for Chanson V-M. Toyota A. have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 9-5 record. Chanson V-M at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. Toyota A. are looking forward to face Denso Iris (#6) in Kariya in the next round. Chanson V-M will play at home against Toyota B SR in Aichi and is hoping to win this game.
