Regular Season Round 11: Miyazaki SS - Okinawa GK 72-112

BJ League top team - Okinawa GK (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns (1-9) 112-72. The game without a history. Okinawa GK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Miyazaki Shining Suns' 36. They outrebounded Miyazaki Shining Suns 41-30 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American center Jeff Newton (205-81, college: Indiana) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Morihisa Yamauchi (173-90) helped adding 30 points and 4 steals. Okinawa GK's coach Tohyama Kouto felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Dominique Keller (203-88, college: Illinois) responded with 31 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Larriques Cunningham (198-88, college: Lee) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Okinawa GK have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-0 record. Miyazaki Shining Suns lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with nine games lost. Okinawa GK will play against league's second-placed Oita Heat Devils at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Miyazaki Shining Suns will play against Kyoto Hannar. (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
