Regular Season Round 16: Fujitsu RW - JX Sunflowers 52-71

An interesting game for JX Sunflowers (14-0) which played road game in Kawasaki against their biggest opponent Fujitsu RW (12-2). Top-ranked JX Sunflowers had an easy win 71-52. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Fujitsu RW was better in fourth quarter 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Fujitsu RW to just 6 points in first quarter. JX Sunflowers dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Fujitsu RW's 26. JX Sunflowers forced 19 Fujitsu RW turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Yuka Mamiya (185-90) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 6 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) and the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) who added 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side international power forward Megumi Shinohara (184-91) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Rui Machida (161-93) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. JX Sunflowers have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-0 record. Fujitsu RW at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. JX Sunflowers will play against Hitachi Cougars (#10) in Hitachinaka in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fujitsu RW will play at home against Mitsubishi K. (#3) in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
