Regular Season Round 6: Memorial - Cape Breton 63-71

An interesting game for Cape Breton (1-2) which played road game in St. John's against one of their biggest challengers Memorial (1-3). Fourth ranked Cape Breton managed to get a 8-point victory 71-63. Memorial trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 19-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 63-71 at the end of the game. Cape Breton looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Naudia Campbell (185, college: Washburn) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and guard Tanira McClurkin (163) supported her with 16 points and 5 assists. Four Cape Breton players scored in double figures. Even 14 points by forward Grace Fishbein (180-90) did not help to save the game for Memorial. Sandra Amoah added 8 points and 9 rebounds. Despite that victory Cape Breton went down to fifth position due to points difference. Loser Memorial dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with UBC Okanagan and Mount Royal. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
