Regular Season Round 5: Hapoel Kazrin - Elitzur Ramla 98-74
Date: November 13, 2012
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Hapoel Kazrin and 9th ranked Elitzur Ramla had identical 2-2 record. This time Hapoel Kazrin used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Ramla 98-74 on Tuesday night. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Kazrin. Elitzur Ramla was better in fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Kazrin made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. American forward Gary Johnson (198-88, college: Texas) stepped up and scored 27 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and naturalized Russian power forward Anton Kazarnovski (205-85) chipped in 19 points and 10 rebounds. American swingman Akeem Wright (200-84, college: Kansas St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and guard Or Zinderman (188-89) scored 16 points. Four Elitzur Ramla players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Hapoel Kazrin (3-2) moved-up to seventh place. Loser Elitzur Ramla keeps the ninth position with three games lost. Hapoel Kazrin will face higher ranked Ironi Kiryat Ata (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
