There was a minor upset when higher ranked Shenyang Golden Lions (3-3) were defeated on the road by ninth ranked Shanghai Octopus (3-3) 89-75. The game was mostly controlled by Shanghai Octopus. Shenyang Golden Lions was better in second period 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanghai Octopus made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game, while Shenyang Golden Lions only scored eight points from the stripe.
