Important game to mention about took place in Jurmala. Fourth ranked Jurmala (5-4) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 10th ranked Jekabpils (3-6) 87-86 on Wednesday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Jekabpils were ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 25-17 third quarter run of Jurmala. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Jekabpils' 28. American guard Ken Brown (185-89, college: Philander Smith) notched 19 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Atis Ozols (199-81) supported him with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Jurmala's coach Jevgenijs Kosuskins allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 29 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists by American forward P.J. Hill jr. (182-87, college: Ohio St.) did not help to save the game for Jekabpils. The former international center Jurijs Aleksejevs (202-85) added 22 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Five Jurmala and four Jekabpils players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Jurmala maintains fourth position with 5-4 record. Jekabpils lost third consecutive game. Jekabpils at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. They share the position with Turiba. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
