Extraliga top team - Komarno (6-1) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they beat sixth ranked Handlova (2-4) 88-70. The game without a history. Komarno led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Handlova's 36. Komarno forced 20 Handlova turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. American forward Kevin Thompson (205-89, college: Morgan St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import point guard Chris Lowe (182-87, college: Massachusetts, agency: KMG Sports Management) contributed with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Komarno players scored in double figures. International Roman Vido (204-88) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Corye Payton (193, college: Wilmington) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for Handlova. Handlova's coach Tibor Jany rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Komarno have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-1 record. Handlova at the other side keeps the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Prievidza. Komarno will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Handlova will play on the road against Nova Ves (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
