The game in Hafnarfjordur was also quite interesting. 5th ranked Njardvik (3-6) played at the court of sixth ranked Haukar (3-6). Haukar managed to secure a 9-point victory 72-63 on Wednesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 18-8. But Njardvik won third quarter 25-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haukar held Njardvik to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.1 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Njardvik 56-42 including a 43-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. American swingman Siarre Evans (178-88, college: E.Tenn.St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 19 rebounds for the winning side and guard Gunnhildur Gunnarsdottir (175-90) accounted for 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. American Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson, agency: Merit Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and center Salbjorg Saevarsdottir (182-91) added 15 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively for Njardvik in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Haukar moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Njardvik. Haukar will meet league's second-placed Snaefell in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Njardvik will play against Grindavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
