Date: November 14, 2012
St.Francis Xavier's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after one consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Sydney, where they defeated Cape Breton (1-2) 72-57 on Wednesday. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by St.Francis Xavier. Cape Breton was better in third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cape Breton to just 6 points in first quarter. St.Francis Xavier dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Cape Breton's 32. St.Francis Xavier forced 26 Cape Breton turnovers. Forward Colleen Keane (175) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds and guard Tanira McClurkin (163) added 11 points and 6 assists in the effort for Cape Breton. Cape Breton's coach Fabian McKenzie tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. St.Francis Xavier (1-1) left bottom position moving up to second place, which they share with 7 other teams. Loser Cape Breton dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
