Regular Season Round 7: Grindavik - Stjarnan 90-86

The game between Top Four teams took place in Grindavik. Third ranked host Grindavik (5-2) defeated their biggest opponent Stjarnan (5-2) 90-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Stjarnan. Stjarnan was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 28-23 charge of Grindavik, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 20 Stjarnan turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Grindavik made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Aaron Broussard (195-90, college: Seattle) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Thorleifur Olafsson (192-84) helped adding 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side American forward Brian Mills (203-88, college: Mercer, agency: Pro One Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized American guard Justin Shouse (180-81, college: Mercyhurst) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds and 14 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Stjarnan. Grindavik is looking forward to face KR (#4) in Reykjavik in the next round. Stjarnan will play on the road against Skallagrimur in Borgarnes and is hoping to win this game.
