Regular Season Round 7: UBC - UFV 76-71

Rather expected game in Vancouver, BC where 3rd placed Cascades (2-3) were defeated by leader Thunderbirds (5-0) 76-71 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-18. But Cascades won third quarter 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Cascades 46-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. Cascades were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard O'Brian Wallace (185, college: Miles CC) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Doug Plumb (193, college: Minnesota St.) helped adding 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Thunderbirds players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Samuel Freeman (191) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Kevon Parchment scored 19 points and 5 steals. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Thunderbirds have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Cascades lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Thunderbirds will face again Cascades (#5) in Abbotsford, BC in the next round.
