Regular Season Round 7: Aishin SH - Mitsubishi DD 77-58

Very expected game when 6th ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (4-10) were smashed by second ranked Aishin Sea Horses (11-3) in Kariya 77-58 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Mitsubishi Dolphins was better in fourth quarter 19-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Aishin Sea Horses especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Quite impressive performance for the former international forward Shogo Asayama (192-81) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Ron Hale (203-77, college: Florida St.) answered with 7 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Jun Uzawa (197-81) added 10 points in the effort for Mitsubishi Dolphins. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Aishin Sea Horses. They maintain second place with 11-3 record behind leader Toyota Alvark. Mitsubishi Dolphins lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with ten games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face bottom-ranked Hokkaido L. (#8) in Saporro in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play at home against Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
