Very expected game when 11th ranked Lleida Basquet (2-5) lost at home to sixth ranked Meridiano Alicante (5-2) 79-66 on Friday. Lleida Basquet was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Quite impressive performance for American forward Taylor Coppenrath (205-81, college: Vermont) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Alex Llorca (192-89) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Meridiano Alicante's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Sergi Pino (196-87) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Daniel Rodriguez (182-84) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Lleida Basquet. Four Lleida Basquet players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Meridiano Alicante. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Lleida Basquet keeps the eleventh position with five games lost. Meridiano Alicante will face Melilla Baloncesto (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Lleida Basquet will play against CB Clavijo in Logrono and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
