Regular Season Round 10: Charleville - St Vallier 69-61

Another upset was a game between Saint Vallier (5-5) and Charleville-Mezieres (3-7), which took place in Charleville. Higher ranked Saint Vallier lost to fifteenth ranked Charleville-Mezieres in a road game 61-69 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-61. Charleville-Mezieres forced 23 Saint Vallier turnovers. It was a very good performance for American-British power forward Tafari Toney (203-86) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 7 rebounds. Charleville-Mezieres' coach Francis Charneux allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American-Ivorian guard Errick Craven (188-83, college: USC) replied with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Florent Tortosa (196-89) added 19 points in the effort for Saint Vallier. Four Saint Vallier players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Charleville-Mezieres maintains fifteenth position with 3-7 record, which they share with Hyeres-Toulon and Denain. Loser Saint Vallier dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. Charleville-Mezieres will face higher ranked Chalons-Reims (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
