Regular Season Round 10: Rouen - Fos Ouest 78-84

There was a minor upset when 11th ranked SPO Rouen (4-6) lost at home to fourteenth ranked Fos Ouest (4-6) 84-78 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But SPO Rouen won fourth quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely SPO Rouen outrebounded Fos Ouest 43-27 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for American power forward John Williamson (199-86, college: Cincinnati) who helped to win the game recording 21 points. The former international power forward Sacha Giffa (202-77) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Fos Ouest players scored in double figures. American guard O'Darien Bassett (191-86, college: Troy) replied with 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Wendell McKines (198-88, college: N.Mexico St.) added 15 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for SPO Rouen. Fos Ouest moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Nantes and Rouen. SPO Rouen lost third consecutive game. Fos Ouest will face higher ranked Aix-Maurienne (#6) in Aix-les-Bains in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
