Very predictable result when fourth ranked Le Portel (7-3) rolled over at home 13th ranked Nantes (4-6) 103-80 on Friday. The game without a history. Le Portel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 62.5 percent from the field and made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Le Portel looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Nantes' players. Quite impressive performance for guard Benoit Mangin (198-88) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Jamaican-American Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Le Portel's coach Eric Girard felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward James Mathis (200-84, college: Niagara, agency: Court Side) replied with 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import forward Terrance Henry (208-89, college: Mississippi, agency: Pro One Sports) added 16 points in the effort for Nantes. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Le Portel moved-up to third place, which they share with Antibes. Loser Nantes dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. Le Portel will face Denain Voltaire (#16) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Nantes will play against Lille Metropole (#9).
