Regular Season Round 7: Breakers - Crocodiles 93-63

Leader New Zealand Breakers delivered the seventh win on Friday night. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Townsville Crocodiles (0-9) 93-63 in Auckland. The game was mostly controlled by New Zealand Breakers. Townsville Crocodiles managed to win fourth quarter 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Townsville Crocodiles 40-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. New Zealand Breakers looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 assists for the winners. New Zealand center Alex Pledger (213-87, college: Belm.Abbey) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. American forward Lawrence Abney (203-77, college: Fresno St., agency: Dream Team Management) produced 11 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Gary Ervin (183-83, college: Arkansas) added 10 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. New Zealand Breakers (7-1) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place. Townsville Crocodiles at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. New Zealand Breakers are looking forward to face Perth Wildcats (#5) on the road in the next round. Townsville Crocodiles will play against Perth Wildcats and hope to get finally their first victory.
