Regular Season Round 7: Alberta - Lethbridge 74-46

There was a minor upset when much higher ranked Lethbridge (3-2) was outscored by fourth ranked Alberta (3-2) in Edmonton 74-46 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Alberta. Lethbridge was better in second period 16-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Lethbridge to just 2 points in first quarter. Alberta forced 28 Lethbridge turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Lethbridge's players. It was a very good performance for forward Saskia Van Ginhoven (185) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Sally Hillier (168) contributed with 10 points and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Ali Cameron (163) answered with 21 points and 5 steals and forward Stephanie Inman (180) added 10 points in the effort for Lethbridge. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alberta moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Lethbridge. Alberta will face again Lethbridge (#4) at home in the next round.
