Amsterdam can celebrate finally their first win this season after eight consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Rotterdam, where they defeated Rotterdam (1-8) 86-79 on Saturday. Amsterdam looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Maurits Pieper (198-90) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds and center Berend Weijs (208, college: Maryland) who added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks during the contest. American power forward Cameron Echols (203-81, college: Ball St., agency: R.H.Consultancy) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Anthony Miles (182-89, college: Lamar) scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Amsterdam left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with defeated Rotterdam. It was Rotterdam's seventh loss in a row. Amsterdam will meet higher ranked Leeuwarden (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Rotterdam will play against the league's second-placed Leiden (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
