Regular Season Round 7: Toshiba BT - Hitachi SR 76-78

Important game to mention about took place in Kanagawa. Fifth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (8-6) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Toshiba Thunders (8-6) 78-76 in the fight for the fourth place. Toshiba Thunders were ahead by 8 points at the halftime before a 24-11 third quarter run of Hitachi Sunrockers. They made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 9 rebounds. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) helped adding 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 46 points (!!!) and 21 rebounds and swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) scored 14 points. Hitachi Sunrockers moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Toshiba BT. Hitachi Sunrockers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Osaka Panasonic Trians.
