Regular Season Round 7: Toyota Alvark - Hokkaido L. 78-65

JBL top team - Toyota Alvark (12-2) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat eighth ranked Hokkaido L. (1-13) in Fuchu 78-65. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-65. Toyota Alvark had a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hokkaido L. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 rebounds. The former international forward Michael Takahashi (198-74, college: CS Northridge) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. American forward Joevan Catron (198-88, college: Oregon) answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Takehiko Orimo (190-70) added 18 points in the effort for Hokkaido L.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Toyota Alvark. Defending champion maintains first place with 12-2 record. Hokkaido L. lost their sixth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face Tochigi Brex (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hokkaido L. will play against the league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya.
