Regular Season Round 24: Gigantes - Panteras 78-89

Very expected game when 16th ranked Gigantes (2-22) lost at home to sixth ranked Panteras (16-8) 89-78. The game was mostly controlled by Panteras. Gigantes was better in second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Gigantes 43-27 including 33 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Panamanian power forward Antonio Garcia (203-76, college: Ky Wesleyan) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 19 rebounds. Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) chipped in 27 points. Panteras' coach Juan Cardona allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Sam Liggins (178, college: Alders.-Broad.) who recorded 27 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Josh Almanson (205-82, college: Bowling Green) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively. Panteras maintains sixth position with 16-8 record. Gigantes lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 22 lost games. Panteras' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Soles in Mexicali and it may be quite challenging game. Gigantes will play on the road against Huracanes (#9) in Tampico.
