Regular Season Round 7: Aishin SH - Mitsubishi DD 75-72

Sixth-ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (4-10) were very close to win a game against second ranked Aishin Sea Horses (11-3) in Kariya on Saturday. Aishin Sea Horses managed to secure only three-point victory 75-72. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 24-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Aishin Sea Horses especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists. Jamaican center Kevin Young (206-84, college: Missouri) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American forward Ron Hale (203-77, college: Florida St.) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Jun Uzawa (197-81) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Mitsubishi Dolphins. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mitsubishi Dolphins' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-3 record behind leader Toyota Alvark. Mitsubishi Dolphins lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with ten games lost. Aishin Sea Horses are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Hokkaido L. (#8) in Saporro in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play at home against Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
