Regular Season Round 9: Cognac - Quimper 79-64

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Cognac's (7-1) home victory over 5th ranked Quimper UJAP (5-3) 79-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cognac. Quimper UJAP was better in third quarter 22-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cognac had a 28-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Ian Caskill (207-81, college: JMU) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Sadio Doucoure (195-92) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Cognac players scored in double figures. Cognac's coach Philippe Maucourant used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian forward Corey Raji (198-88, college: Boston Coll., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and Spanish point guard Carlos Cherry (184-79, agency: Global Sports Plaza) added 8 points and 7 assists respectively. Cognac keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Souffel. Loser Quimper UJAP keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Cognac will face Orchesien BC (#4) in Orchies in the next round. Quimper UJAP will play at home against Saint Chamond and be promoted back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
