Regular Season Round 9: Sparta - Residence 79-78

Date: November 17, 2012
Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Residence (4-5) was edged by leader Sparta (9-0) in Bertrange 79-78 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Residence trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 23-8 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 78-79 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Residence 48-30 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American point guard Kasey Ulin (181-82, college: Dickinson St.) who saved his team from a defeat with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international forward Larrie Smith (198-75, college: Tenn Tech) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Four Sparta players scored in double figures. American forward Marcus Kennedy (193-84, college: Montevallo, agency: Interperformances) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import guard Darrion Pellum (198-87, college: Hampton) added 26 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Residence. Sparta have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-0 record. Residence at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost.
