Regular Season Round 9: Lattes Montp. - Landes 69-75

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Lattes Montpellier (8-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Basket Landes (5-4) 75-69. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Lattes Montpellier. Lattes Montpellier trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 15-10 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-75 at the end of the game. It was a good game for American-Dominican Carmen Guzman (172-85, college: UAB, agency: Merit Sports) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American center Jennifer Humphrey (191-84, college: Kentucky, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Basket Landes players scored in double figures. The former international forward Geraldine Robert (183-80) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and the former international swingman Emilie Gomis (178-83) added 15 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) in the effort for Lattes Montpellier. Basket Landes moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Lyon. Lattes Montpellier at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Basket Landes is looking forward to face higher ranked Mondeville (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lattes Montpellier will play against the league's second-placed Bourges (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
