Regular Season Round 6: Meteors - DCU Mercy 58-66

Date: November 17, 2012
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Dublin: DCU Mercy (#1) and Meteors (#6). Meteors were defeated at home 58-66 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. DCU Mercy had a 22-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for DCU Mercy especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. American-British forward Meagan Hoffman (183-82, college: Adams St.) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Sarah Woods (174-88) chipped in 26 points during the contest. DCU Mercy's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was guard Karen Meany (170-93) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and forward Rebecca Nagle (173-92) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. DCU Mercy (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row, which they share with UL Aughinish. Meteors at the other side dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. DCU Mercy will play against Singleton (#5) in Cork in the next round. Meteors will play at home against TM Hotel Cork and hope to get back on the winning track.
