Regular Season Round 9: Northland - Visby 88-54

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Northland (4-3) crushed 10th ranked Visby Ladies (2-6) in Lulea 88-54. The game was mostly controlled by Northland. Visby Ladies was better in second period 23-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Visby Ladies to just 4 points in fourth quarter. Northland forced 28 Visby Ladies turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. International guard Frida Aili (179-88) stepped up and scored 27 points for the winners and the former international power forward Anna Barthold (185-80, college: St.Peter's, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Northland's coach Mikael Johansson felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Michele Miller (180-85, college: Xavier) with 17 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Hanna Munthe-Gottberg (171-88) scored 15 points. Northland moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Eos. Visby Ladies lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with six games lost. Northland will again play against Visby Ladies (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Visby Ladies will play against Solna Vikings and hope to get back on the winning track.
