There was a minor upset when 4th ranked Navarra Pamplona (3-2) lost at home to sixth ranked Caja Rural (3-3) 75-63 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 40-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Caja Rural dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Navarra Pamplona's 20 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was a good game for Finnish forward Dionne Pounds (174-84, college: Lamar, agency: Regeneracom Sports) who led her team to a victory with 24 points. point guard Mariona Ortiz (182-92) contributed with 13 points and 4 steals for the winners. Four Caja Rural players scored in double figures. Latvian power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds and guard Patricia Arguello (178-87) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Navarra Pamplona. Newly promoted Caja Rural maintains sixth position with 3-3 record, which they share with Gran Canaria. Navarra Pamplona at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. Caja Rural will face higher ranked Jopisa Burgos (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Navarra Pamplona will play against the league's second-placed Perfumerias Avenida in Salamanca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
