Regular Season Round 17: Niigata - Yamanashi QB 85-70

Bottom-ranked Yamanashi QB (0-15) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 15th consecutive match to seventh ranked Niigata (7-8) 85-70 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 49-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Niigata outrebounded Yamanashi QB 44-28 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Yamanashi QB's players. The best player for the winners was swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) who scored 40 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Seiko Kawakami (165-88) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Honoka Osanai (168-90) produced 26 points and 5 rebounds and guard Saori Kanehara (164-87) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Niigata. They moved-up to sixth place. Yamanashi QB lost their fifteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Niigata will again meet bottom-ranked Yamanashi QB (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Yamanashi QB will have a break next round.
