Regular Season Round 7: Shenyang - Shanxi 85-89

WCBA top team - Shanxi (5-2) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat eighth ranked Shenyang Golden Lions (3-4) in Dandong 89-85. Shenyang Golden Lions were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a great shooting night for Shanxi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. It was a quality performance for Spanish Maya Moore (183-89, college: Connecticut) who led the winners and scored 47 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Yu Zhang (184-86) accounted for 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Shanxi's coach Lucas Mondelo used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. International forward LiJie Miao (178-81) came up with 31 points and 5 rebounds and international forward Shuang Zhao (188-90) added 21 points (made all of her eight free throws) respectively for Shenyang Golden Lions in the defeat. Shanxi have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Newly promoted Shanxi maintains first place with 5-2 record, which they share with Liaoning. Shenyang Golden Lions lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Shanxi will meet bottom-ranked Heilongjiang Chenneng (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Shenyang Golden Lions will play against Henan Elephants (#6) in Jiyuan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
