Regular Season Round 8: Acadia - Memorial 74-59

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Acadia as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Acadia defeated 6th ranked Memorial in Wolfville 74-59. The game was mostly controlled by Acadia. Memorial managed to win third quarter 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guard Kristy Moore (170) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Emily Nkosi contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Acadia players scored in double figures. Guard Emily Jameson (178-91) replied with 8 points and 10 rebounds and forward Grace Fishbein (180-90) added 14 points in the effort for Memorial. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Acadia have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams. Memorial at the other side dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. They share the position with Mount Royal. Memorial will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Acadia will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Memorial in St. John's.
