Rather predictable result when second ranked Regina (4-1) rolled over at home 5th ranked Manitoba (2-3) 83-32 on Saturday. The game without a history. Regina led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Manitoba to just 6 points in second quarter and to 14 points in first half. Regina held Manitoba to an opponent 17.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 50.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Manitoba 54-20 including a 43-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Michelle Clarke (170-88, college: Purdue) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. The other American import guard Kehlsie Crone (175, college: Weber St.) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Regina players scored in double figures. Guard Stephanie Gill (170) replied with 15 points and forward Karina Patterson (178) added 5 points in the effort for Manitoba. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Regina have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 4-1 record having just -1 point less than leader UFV. Loser Manitoba keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Regina will face again Manitoba (#5) in Winnipeg in the next round.
