Regular Season Round 7: Tochigi Brex - Panasonic T. 82-79

A very close game took place in Tochigi between Tochigi Brex and Panasonic Trians. Seventh ranked Tochigi Brex (3-11) got a very close home victory over 3rd placed Panasonic Trians (9-5). Tochigi Brex managed to escape with a 3-point win 82-79 on Sunday evening. Panasonic Trians were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Tochigi Brex looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Panasonic Trians' players. It was an exceptional evening for international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) who led the winners and scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American power forward Tyler Smith (203-80, college: Penn St.) accounted for 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Tochigi Brex's coach Antanas Sireika used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 22 rebounds and 4 blocks and international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Panasonic Trians in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex maintains seventh place with 3-11 record. Panasonic Trians at the other side keep the third position with five games lost. Tochigi Brex will meet at home league's leader Toyota Alvark in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panasonic Trians' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Osaka to the arena Hitachi Sunrockers.
