Regular Season Round 18: Yamanashi QB - Niigata 48-75

Bottom-ranked Yamanashi QB (0-16) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 75-48 loss to sixth ranked Niigata (8-8) in Yamanashi on Sunday evening. The game without a history. Niigata led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Yamanashi QB's 24. They outrebounded Yamanashi QB 47-35 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) scored 19 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Nana Kondo (177-88) chipped in 10 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Coach Zyuniti Ara's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was guard Saori Kanehara (164-87) with 16 points and 7 rebounds and center Misuzu Sato (180-89) scored 6 points and 11 rebounds. Niigata have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 8-8 record. Newly promoted Yamanashi QB still closes the standings. Niigata will meet higher ranked Toyota A. (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Yamanashi QB will play against the league's second-placed Fujitsu RW (#2) in Kawasaki and hopes to get finally their first victory.
