Regular Season Round 9: Acadia - Memorial 71-49

CIS top team - Axemen (4-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Sea Hawks (0-6) in Wolfville, NS 71-49. The game was mostly controlled by Axemen. Sea Hawks was better in fourth quarter 25-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sea Hawks to just 2 points in second quarter and to 12 points in first half. Axemen forced 26 Sea Hawks turnovers. International forward Owen Klassen (208-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and guard Anthony Ashe (193) chipped in 19 points. Four Axemen players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Noel Moffatt with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and D'Avonti Moore scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Axemen have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record, which they share with Ryerson. Sea Hawks at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Axemen will play against Panthers (#4) in Charlottetown, PEI in the next round. Sea Hawks will have a break next round.
