Regular Season Round 9: Mount Royal - TRU 80-89

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Wolfpack (2-4) beat 5th ranked Mount Royal (2-4) in Calgary, AB 89-80. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-16. But Mount Royal won second period 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Wolfpack won last quarter 34-26. The best player for the winners was Will Ondrik who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Brett Rouault (193) chipped in 19 points. Four Wolfpack players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Awet Abraha (183) who recorded 18 points and 5 assists and forward Kyle Wilson (198) added 16 points respectively. Mount Royal's coach Marc Dobell rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Wolfpack moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Mount Royal. Wolfpack's next round opponent will be Cougars (#8) in Regina, SK. Mount Royal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Calgary, AB to the arena Dinos.
