Regular Season Round 9: Mount Royal - TRU 58-66

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Mount Royal (1-5) lost to fourth ranked Thompson Rivers (4-2) in Calgary 58-66 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-10. But Mount Royal won third quarter 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Thompson Rivers made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. It was a good game for center Diane Schuetze (191) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Tracy Kocs (178) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Emily Larson (168) answered with 12 points and Jordan Maclean added 11 points in the effort for Mount Royal. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Thompson Rivers moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Mount Royal lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with five games lost. Thompson Rivers will face league's second-placed Regina at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mount Royal will play against the league's leader Calgary (#1) in Exshaw.
