Regular Season Round 10: Latina Basket - Matera 55-62

Very expected game when 15th ranked Latina Basket (3-7) was defeated at home by second ranked Matera (8-2) 62-55 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 35-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Matera dominated on the defensive end, holding Latina Basket to just 6 points in first quarter. Point guard Carlo Cantone (187-85) fired 17 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) for the winners. Swingman Andrea Vitale (199-82, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 13 points. The former international guard Riccardo Santolamazza (195-83) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and power forward Alessandro Cecchetti (200-91) added 4 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Matera keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Torino. Loser Latina Basket keeps the fifteenth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Perugia and San Severo. Matera will meet at home Agrigento (#4) in the next round. Latina Basket will play against Mazzeo San Severo (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
