Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Recanati (4-5) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Firenze (6-3) 76-72 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-14. But Recanati won second period 25-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Firenze made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Firenze outrebounded Recanati 33-18 including 24 on the defensive glass. Swingman Daniele Casadei (199-81) fired 25 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners. Center Andrea Capitanelli (203-86) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Firenze players scored in double figures. Guard Gianni Cantagalli (196-88, agency: Players Group) produced 15 points and forward Attilio Pierini (201-81) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Firenze have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 6-3 record, which they share with Lucca. Loser Recanati keeps the tenth place with five games lost. They share the position with Chieti and Omegna. Firenze will meet at home Reggio Calabr. (#19) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Recanati will play against Lucca (#7) and hope to secure a win.
